Online degrees offer instructor interaction

As an online student, you will have ongoing, direct contact with your instructor, interaction you might not receive in a campus class. It can be difficult to get that one-on-one time in large lecture classes in which you compete with dozens, if not hundreds, of other students for your professor’s attention. You will receive continual feedback via email on every discussion, assignment and exam. In an online class, the instructors are always approachable for questions and discussion, and you won’t have to fight just to get a couple minutes of their time.

Never feel shy or intimidated in online classes

In a traditional class setting, every student competes to be heard. Everyone has something to add to a discussion, and it’s usually the shyest, most reserved students who get left out. In an online discussion, every student is required to post comments about the current lecture, and since everything is posted to a discussion board or forum, no one has to worry about being talked over. There is always time for everyone’s thoughts, and more introverted students aren’t as intimidated to participate. If you’re too embarrassed to speak up in front of your peers in a classroom, you won’t have to be concerned about saying the wrong thing or fumbling for words. Before you post your thoughts, you’ll have plenty of time to review them for accuracy and make sure what you want to say makes sense.

The benefits of online degrees are numerous—they offer incredible convenience and flexibility, and the instructors are more readily available than those in an on-campus setting. An online college degree program might be the ideal choice for someone with a full-time job, a stay-at-home mom, someone living too far from their dream school or anyone who wants a more personal learning experience.
